About

David is an award-winning author with a national reputation as a creative writing tutor and motivational speaker. Working with primary and secondary schools, his aims are simple: to encourage and promote a love of reading and writing, and to help those who work with him unlock their creativity and discover the writer hidden in all of us.

A qualified teacher and highly experienced editor, David has worked in a wide range of child-centred fields, including an outdoor activity centre, children’s publishing, and Ofsted. He also spent time working in religious publishing. He now divides his time between writing and visiting schools.

David’s books include the highly acclaimed Dead series – The Dead, The Dark, and The Damned – along with several titles in the unparalleled and interactive Booksurfers series, where David’s adventures encourage readers to explore such classic tales as Treasure Island, The Wizard of Oz and A Christmas Carol.

Adventures such as The Cave and Blood House were written and published especially with struggling and reluctant readers in mind, while standalone novels like the fast-paced Doom Rider are targeted at teenagers who want to explore the darker side of narrative fiction.

A keen sportsman, David spends his spare time rock climbing, clay pigeon shooting, and enjoying the company of his two amazing sons.
