House on Haunted Hill...
I should really have a huge review here, waxing lyrical about the greatness of this movie. But I haven't. Instead, let me just say that if you want to see a movie that's all about shadows, darkness and Vincent Price (YES! VINCENT PRICE!) ruling the screen, then you've come to the right place. So grab some popcorn, turn out the lights, and enjoy House on Haunted Hill (Cert: 12) ...
An Earful of Horror
If you've not clicked my link to Vintage Horror on my links page, do so now! It's possibly one of the greatest websites for horror fans in the world! For your creeped out enjoyment, what I've done here is proved links to some of my favourite radio horror stories from that website. So just turn the lights low, snuggle up, and settle down for a good old-fashioned scare... Mwa-ha-ha-haaaa! (Exits stage left through evil fog...) (And I'll be adding more as and when I get the time.)
The Beckoning Fair One (Oliver Onion) Classed by Lovecraft and Algernon Blackwood as among the best. A wonderful adaptation from 1945.
The Uninvited Dramatisation of the movie, which was in turn based on the novel Uneasy Freehold, by Dorothy Macardle. One of Matin Scorsese's 11 scariest films of all time.
The Vampire Bat
Another great black and white horror for you! What's not to love about slightly stilted acting, the word "vampires" mentioned in almost every bit of dialogue, and ooooh lots of other stuff! Watch it. Go on! WATCH IT! But get some popcorn first, obviously.
